Ankyloglossia

Well,hari ni saya nak cerita pasal satu penyakit yang saya sendiri pernah tengok.Walaupun berat hati nak menulis blog ni tapi saya teruskan untuk kebaikan diri sendiri dan rang ramai.Hmm,Ankyloglossia atau dikenali sebagai Tied Tongue.Menurut Wikipedia :

Ankyloglossia, also known as tongue-tie, is a congenital oral anomaly which may decrease mobility of the tongue tip^[1] and is caused by an unusually short, thick lingual frenulum, a membrane connecting the underside of the tongue to the floor of the mouth.^[2] Ankyloglossia varies in degree of severity from mild cases characterized by mucous membrane bands to complete ankyloglossia whereby the tongue is tethered to the floor of themouth.^[2]

Basicly,penyakit ni biasa-biasa je.Dia cuma effect pada percakapan.Dengan kedudukan lidah yang macam tu membuatkan lidah susah nak bergerak dan menyebabkan kepelatan.Sedih,Seumur hidup pula tu :'(

Effect 

Menurut Wikipedia :

Ankyloglossia can affect feeding, speech, and oral hygiene^[3] as well as have mechanical/social effects.^[4]Ankyloglossia can also prevent the tongue from contacting the anterior palate. This can then promote an infantile swallow and hamper the progression to an adult-like swallow which can result in an open bite deformity.^[2] It can also result in mandibular prognathism; this happens when the tongue contacts the anterior portion of the mandible with exaggerated anterior thrusts.^[2]

Memang sedihlah dengar pasal benda ni kan.Sedih.

How it's treated? 

Menurut WebMD.com :

If your baby is younger than 1 year of age and has problems with feeding, the doctor may do a medical procedure (frenotomy) to clip the lingual frenulum. If your baby has tongue-tie and is feeding okay, you may choose to wait and see if his or her lingual frenulum stretches on its own.

While you wait and see, you can also:

• Talk to a lactation consultant if you are having breast-feeding problems.
• Consult a speech therapist if your toddler is having speech problems.

If tongue-tie causes speech problems or personal or social problems as your child grows, the doctor may do a frenuloplasty. In this surgery, the doctor clips the lingual frenulum and closes the wound with stitches. The doctor may also teach your child how to do tongue exercises to improve tongue movement.

Some children don't need treatment because they adapt to the way their tongue is or the problem gets better as they grow.
